Many thousands of hours of research were put into this business.  This allows us to claim knowledge in many aspects of Mold problems through the actual Remediation Process.  

Fungi by Progy is not a Remediation or an Abatement Contractor.  We can find  Mold, Test it, and provide you with answers on how to get rid of it and keep it from returning.

If you have an indoor Mold problem, or suspect you do,  DO NOT just hire anyone to help you get rid of the Mold.  Prior to signing a Contract with any Mold “expert”, ask for their Credentials, and for them to prove that they are Qualified.  Remember, there are no NYS or Federal Laws for Mold issues!  There will be some legislation by a couple of states in 2005, and the Congress will do something by 2008.

Mold infestations can be very expensive to Inspect for, Test for, and Remediate. There are some “get rich quick” people out there that DO NOT KNOW what they are doing.  Some scam artists can make matters much worst then they already are, or they can even “House Cook” your Home (multiple cases prosecuted in the Southern US). Do your homework, ask the right questions, and ask for References. A good Mold Inspector should have all of the right answers to satisfy you, or DO NOT HIRE THEM!

A New York State registered business founded in 1995, based in Johnson City, NY, and servicing the South Central New York State region, near the PA. border. 

The Owner, Richard F. Progovitz has been heavily involved in Mycology for over 40 years.  In the past years, Fungi by Progy has been a supplier of Wild Mushrooms to a Wild Mushroom Marketeer in the NYC area, who sold the fungi to many high class restaurants throughout the World.  Progovitz and his products have been featured in popular magazines such as Sports Afield and Vegetarian Times.  There have also been many newspaper articles written about his fungal experiences. His creation of two sets of Wild Mushroom Flash Cards (just like Baseball cards), are being used by thousands of mushroom connoisseurs, both professional and amateur. The Edible and Poisonous sets are excellent for use in the field, to aid in identifying more then 60 types of common Wild Mushrooms. 

Progovitz is the president of the Susquehanna Valley Mycological Society (SVMS) for the past 11 years, a member of the North America Mycological Association (NAMA) and the North East Mycological Federation (NEMF) for years, and also vp of NEMF 2003.  Richard was a Mechanical Engineer at IBM for 25 years, an Inventor holding two Patents and has 10 Technical Papers published.

With his background, Progovitz has expanded his knowledge in Mycology and is now a Certified Mold Inspector and a Certified Mold Contractor. Certified by a National Certification Program (CMICI), Progovitz has been trained by Professionals to Inspect, Test, analyze and generate Mold Remediation Protocol Plans.  Our Services provided, are on the cutting edge of the Mold Industry.  We can perform screening of Molds on site, by various methods, depending upon your situation.  Very few Mold Inspectors or Industrial Hygienist in North America can perform this service. I personally have only met one other person who has this talent.  We can “save you big bucks” in Testing Fees.  Our high tech equipment, including a microscope, camera, computer, and more, can be brought to your home for Mold Analysis with our Executive Mold Inspection.  Only when absolutely necessary for verification in health issues, will additional samples be sent to an independent Lab for verification, at ½ the price of other companies.

Fungi are Progovitz’s favorite pastime, and Mycology played a big part in his getting involved with Indoor Molds.  For years he has attended Regional and National Fungal seminars that always draw in the best of breed in the study of Fungi.  Being able to have one-on-one instruction, by the most educated people in mushrooms, microscopic airborne particulates, Molds, and Spore Identification, has allowed Richard to absorb a tremendous amount of information and facts about Fungi.        (On-site mold testing for any size home and a Final Report)

¨       Standard Mold Inspection - $250

       (1500 sq. ft home or less; Final Report included, testing not included)

¨       Mold Consultation (verbal) - $75 (within a 20 mile radius of Binghamton, NY otherwise $.38/mile) Analyze a few Mold infestations and provide verbal remediation plans

¨       Air Testing - $75-100/ Test

       (Culture Plate - Air-O-Cell Cassettes)

  ¨       Mold Testing - $75/ Test

       (Direct Sampling)

  ¨       Mold Remediation Protocol Plan - $250 - $2000.
